Hood Opener Cable Removal and Installation

Removal

1. Vehicle Lift

1. Raise the vehicle on a lift, and make sure it is securely supported.

2. Front Wheel





1. Remove the front wheel.

3. Front Splash Guard





1. For some models: Remove the screws (A), then remove the front splash guard (B).

4. Front Inner Fender





1. Remove the bolt (A), the screws (B), and the clips (C, D, E) securing the front inner fender (F), then remove the front inner fender.

5. Front Door Sill Trim





1. Detach the hooks (A) and the tabs (B) from the kick panel (C) and the B-pillar lower trim (D), and pull up the front door inner sill trim (E) by hand to detach the clips (F), then remove the trim.

6. Front Door Opening Seal As Needed





1. Pull out the front door opening seal (A) from the trim hooks (B) around the front door opening flange as needed.

7. Kick Panel





1. Pull out the front door opening seal (A) as needed from the kick panel hooks and the door opening flange.

2. Pull back the kick panel by hand to detach the clips (B), then remove the driver's side kick panel (C).

8. Hood Latch





1. Remove the bolts (A), then remove the hood latch (B) from the body. Disconnect the hood opener cable (C) from the latch.

2. Disconnect the connector (D).

9. Hood Opener Cable





1. Detach the clips (A) with a clip remover, and remove the grommet (B) from the body.





2. Remove the bolt (A), then remove the hood release handle/cable (B).

3. Disconnect the hood opener cable (C) from the hood release handle (D).

Installation

1. Hood Opener Cable





1. Connect the hood opener cable (A) to the hood release handle (B).

2. Install the hood release handle/cable (C), then install the bolt (D).





3. Install the clips (A) securing the hood opener cable (B), and install the grommet (C) to the body.

2. Hood Latch




NOTE: Apply multipurpose grease to the hood latch as indicated by the arrows.





1. Connect the connector (A).

2. Connect the hood opener cable (B).

3. Install the hood latch (C), then install the bolts (D).

3. Hood Latch - Adjustment

1. Slightly loosen the hood latch mounting bolts (A).






2. Adjust the hood latch (B) to obtain the proper height at the forward edge, and move the hood latch right or left until the striker (C) is centered in the hood latch.

3. Tighten the hood latch mounting bolts to the specified torque.

4. Make sure the hood opens properly and locks securely.





5. Apply multipurpose grease to the hood latch as indicated by the arrows.

4. Kick Panel





1. Install the driver's side kick panel (A). Make sure the clips (B) snap into place securely.

2. Install the front door opening seal (C).

5. Front Door Opening Seal As Needed





1. Install the front door opening seal (A). Make sure the seal is installed securely into the hooks (B).

6. Front Door Sill Trim





1. Install the front door inner sill trim (A). Make sure the clips (B), the hooks (C), and the tabs (D) snap into place securely.

7. Front Inner Fender





1. Install the front inner fender (A), then install the bolt (B), the screws (C), and the clips (D, E, F). Make sure the clips snap into place securely.

8. Front Splash Guard





1. For some models: Install the front splash guard (A), then install the screws (B).

9. Front Wheel





1. Install the front wheel.

NOTE: Before installing the wheel, clean the mating surfaces between the brake disc and the inside of the wheel.
