Navigation System Symptom Troubleshooting - Rearview camera image does not come on or work properly

Rearview camera image does not come on or work properly

NOTE:

- Check the vehicle battery condition first Battery Test.
- Check any official Honda service website for more service information about the navigation system.
- Check the connectors for poor connections or loose terminals.
- If you cannot change the rearview image, go to Rearview camera image does not change.

1. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).

Does the navigation screen come on and show an image when the vehicle is started?

YES -

Go to step 2.

NO -

Go to No picture is displayed troubleshooting Symptom Troubleshooting.

2. Clear the hard error code.

3. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0), and then back to ON (II).

4. Check for the hard error code.

Are there any hard error codes stored?

YES -

Refer to the hard error code troubleshooting.

NO -

Go to step 5.

5. Go into the System Diagnostic Mode, and use the System Links to check the connection between the navigation display unit and the rearview camera.

Is the R-camera link on the screen?

YES -

Go to step 6.

NO -

Go to step 8.

6. Confirm the system connection.

Is the R-camera link red on the screen?

YES -

Do the DTC 1701 troubleshooting 1701.

NO -

Go to step 7.

7. Go into the System Diagnostic Mode, and use the Car Status diagnosis to check the BACK signals.

Does the BACK signal change from [0] to [1] when the shift lever position is changed from P or N to R?

YES -

Go to step 8.

NO -

Go to Vehicle position icon wanders across the map when driving (does not follow a displayed road) or map vehicle ICON spins troubleshooting Symptom Troubleshooting.

8. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).

9. Check the connections between the navigation display unit 32P connector and the rearview camera 12P connector.

Are the connections OK?

YES -

Go to step 10.

NO -

Repair the poor connection, and reconnect the connectors.

10. Disconnect the navigation display unit 32P connector and the rearview camera 12P connector.

11. Check for continuity between navigation display unit 32P connector and the rearview camera 12P connector according to the table.

















Is there continuity?

YES -

Go to step 12.

NO -

There is an open in the wire(s) between the navigation display unit and the rearview camera. Replace the affected shielded harness.

12. Check for continuity between the terminals of the navigation display unit 32P connector according to the table.









Is there continuity between any of the terminals?

YES -

There is a short in the wires between the navigation display unit and the rearview camera. Replace the affected shielded harness.

NO -

Go to step 13.

13. Check for continuity between body ground and the navigation display unit 32P connector according to the table.









Is there continuity?

YES -

There is a short to body ground in the wire(s) between the navigation display unit and the rearview camera. Replace the affected shielded harness.

NO -

Go to step 14.

14. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).

15. Measure the voltage between body ground and the navigation display unit 32P connector according to the table.









Is there more than 0.2 V?

YES -

There is a short to power in the wire(s) between the navigation display unit and the rearview camera. Replace the affected shielded harness.

NO -

Go to step 16.

16. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).

17. Reconnect the navigation display unit 32P connector.

18. Substitute a known-good rearview camera, and check the rearview camera image when the shift lever is in R position.

Is the rearview image OK?

YES -

Replace the original rearview camera Rearview Camera Removal/Installation (With Navigation).

NO -

Replace the navigation display unit Service and Repair.
