Audio switch panel button dos not work properly

NOTE:

- Check the vehicle battery condition first Battery Test.
- Check the connectors for poor connections or loose terminals.

1. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).

2. Check the audio switch panel button and interface dial operation.

Is the audio switch panel operation OK?

YES -

Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time.

NO -

Go to step 3.

3. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).

4. Check the No. 35 (10 A) fuse in the under-dash fuse/relay box.

Is the fuse OK?

YES -

Go to step 5.

NO -

Replace the fuse, and recheck. If the fuse blows again, check for a short in the No. 35 (10 A) fuse circuits.

5. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).

6. Measure the voltage between audio switch panel 12P connector terminals No. 2 and No. 4.





Is there battery voltage?

YES -

Go to step 8.

NO -

Go to step 7.

7. Measure the voltage between audio switch panel 12P connector terminals No. 2 and body ground.





Is there battery voltage?

YES -

Repair an open or high resistance in the wire between the audio switch panel 12P connector terminal No. 4 and body ground (G403).

NO -

Repair an open in the wire between the under-dash fuse/relay box and the audio switch panel 12P connector terminal No. 1.

8. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).

9. Disconnect audio unit connectors E (16P) and the audio switch panel 12P connector.

10. Check for continuity between body ground and audio switch panel 12P connector according to the table.









Is there continuity?

YES -

Repair a short to body ground in the wire(s) between the audio unit and the audio switch panel.

NO -

Go to step 11.

11. Check for continuity between audio switch panel 12P connector according to the table .













Is there continuity?

YES -

Substitute a known-good audio switch panel Audio Switch Panel Removal/Installation, and recheck. If the symptom/indication goes away, replace the original audio switch panel Audio Switch Panel Removal/Installation. If the symptom/indication is still present, replace the audio unit Audio Unit Removal/Installation.

NO -

Repair an open in the wire(s) between the audio unit and the audio switch panel.
