Front Bumper Reinforcement: Description and Operation
Door and Bumper Reinforcement Beams, and Boron Steel (USIBOR 1500) Parts
The door and bumper reinforcement beams are made from high-strength steel.
The center pillar inner reinforcement and roof arch B (without sunroof)/sunroof rear stiffener (with sunroof) are made from boron steel (USIBOR 1500).
If high-strength steel is heated, the strength of the steel is reduced. If high-strength steel is damaged, for example, in a collision, and the door and bumper reinforcement beams or the boron steel parts are bent, the beams or the boron steel parts may crack when attempting to straighten them. If a door beam is damaged, the whole door panel assembly must be replaced.
For this reason, the door and bumper reinforcement beams, and the boron steel parts should NEVER be repaired, and NEVER be welded by MAG welding; they must be replaced by only spot welding if they are damaged.
