2005 TUCSON 4WD EXHAUST PIPE REPLACEMENT FOR FREEZING
DESCRIPTION:
Some 2005 MY Tucson 4WD vehicles may experience a non-start condition due to frozen water restricting the exhaust pipe. Condensed water may settle in the main exhaust pipe, where its location is lower than the center silencer pipe and main muffler, and freeze in extreme temperatures.

REPAIR PROCEDURE:
1. Turn the ignition to the OFF position.
2. Raise the vehicle with a lift.
3. Remove the front muffler and center muffler assembly nuts. Remove the rubber hanger. Tightening torque: (29 ~ 43 lb-ft, 4.0 6.0 Kgf-m, 39 ~ 59 Nm).
4. Remove the main muffler and center muffler assembly nuts. Remove the center muffler assembly. Tightening torque: (29 ~ 43 lb-ft, 4.0 ~ 6.0 Kgf-m, 39 59 Nm)
5. Remove the 2 main muffler rubber hangers on the left side.
6. Remove the 1 main muffler rubber hanger on the right side.
7. Install the new center muffler and main muffler assemblies. Tightening torque: (29 ~ 43 lb-ft, 4.0 ~ 6.0 Kgf-m, 39 ~ 59 Nm).
8. Installation is in the reverse order of removal.
9. Lower the vehicle.
