Diagnosis Procedure
MANIFOLD PRESSURE SENSOR
Description
The manifold pressure sensor is placed at intake manifold collector.
It detects intake manifold pressure and sends the voltage signal to the ECM.
The sensor uses a silicon diaphragm which is sensitive to the change in pressure. As the pressure increases, the voltage rises.
This sensor is not for controlling the engine system, nor for the on board diagnosis.
MANIFOLD PRESSURE SENSOR
Diagnosis Procedure
1.CHECK GROUND CONNECTION
1. Turn ignition switch OFF.
2. Check ground connection M95. Refer to Ground Inspection in Circuit Inspection.
Is the inspection result normal?
YES - GO TO 2.
NO - Repair or replace ground connection.
2.CHECK MANIFOLD PRESSURE SENSOR POWER SUPPLY CIRCUIT FOR OPEN AND SHORT
1. Disconnect manifold pressure sensor harness connector.
2. Turn ignition switch ON.
3. Check the voltage between manifold pressure sensor harness connector and ground.
4. Also check harness for short to ground and power.
Is the inspection result normal?
YES - GO TO 3.
NO - Repair open circuit or short to ground or short to power in harness or connectors.
3.CHECK MANIFOLD PRESSURE SENSOR GROUND CIRCUIT FOR OPEN AND SHORT
1. Turn ignition switch OFF.
2. Disconnect ECM harness connector.
3. Check the continuity between manifold pressure sensor harness connector and ECM harness connector.
4. Also check harness for short to ground and power.
Is the inspection result normal?
YES - GO TO 4.
NO - Repair open circuit or short to ground or short to power in harness or connectors.
4.CHECK MANIFOLD PRESSURE SENSOR INPUT SIGNAL CIRCUIT FOR OPEN AND SHORT
1. Check the continuity between manifold pressure sensor harness connector and ECM harness connector.
2. Also check harness for short to ground and power.
Is the inspection result normal?
YES - GO TO 5.
NO - Repair open circuit or short to ground or short to power in harness or connectors.
5.CHECK MANIFOLD PRESSURE SENSOR
Refer to Component Inspection.
Is the inspection result normal?
YES - GO TO 6.
NO - Replace manifold pressure sensor.
6.CHECK INTERMITTENT INCIDENT
Refer to Intermittent Incident.
