Idle Speed: Adjustments

Adjusting Screws:

Check idle speed with engine at normal operating temperature and air cleaner installed. Set parking brake, connect tachometer and place transmission in "P" or "N."

1. Turn all accessories "OFF" and do not remove air cleaner. Ensure choke is fully open.
2. Disconnect and plug distributor vacuum advance hose, vapor canister purge line and EGR vacuum line.
3. Clamp off the hot idle compensator valve vacuum line. Check idle speed and adjust by turning idle speed adjusting screw until speed is within specification.

Idle speed specification: 850-950 rpm
