Brake Caliper Replacement

Removal Procedure

Caution: Refer to Brake Dust Caution.

Caution: Refer to Brake Fluid Irritant Caution.




1. Remove the tire and wheel.




2. Remove the brake hose from the brake caliper.





Important: When removing the brake hose bolt from the brake caliper, ensure that the copper gaskets are not stuck to the brake caliper or the brake hose.

3. Remove the copper gaskets from the brake hose and bolt.
4. Discard the copper gaskets. DO NOT reuse them, replace with NEW copper gaskets.
5. Using a rubber plug or equivalent, plug the end of the brake hose to prevent excessive brake fluid loss and contamination.




6. Remove the brake caliper slide pin bolts.




7. Remove the brake caliper from the mounting bracket.

Installation Procedure




1. Position the brake caliper assembly on the mounting bracket.





Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice.

2. Install the guide pin bolts.

Tighten the guide pin bolts to 40 N.m (29 lb ft).

3. Remove the rubber plugs from the brake hose.




4. Install the NEW copper gaskets and bolt on the brake hose.




5. Install the brake hose on the brake caliper.

Tighten the brake hose bolt to 40 N.m (29 lb ft).

6. Bleed the system.




7. Install the tire and wheel.
8. Lower the vehicle.
