Installation

Fuel Supply Pump

Installation

1. Install the O-ring and the bracket to the fuel supply pump. Tighten the 3 bolts to the specified torque.Tightening torque: 19 N.m (14 lb.ft)

NOTE: Take care not to twist the O-ring.

2. Align the fuel supply pump shaft key and coupling. Install the coupling and tighten the nuts to the specified torque.
- Lock the coupling using two bolts.

Tightening torque: 64 N.m (47 lb.ft)

3. Put the O-ring to the fuel supply pump, and install them with the coupling to the vacuum pump.Tightening torque: 48 N.m (35 lb.ft)

NOTE: It is not necessary to align the meeting mark etc. to insert the fuel supply pump's gear and the coupling.

4. Install the fuel return pipe. Tighten the nut and the eye bolts to the specified torque.

5. Install the fuel feed pipe with the hose. Tighten the eye bolts to the specified torque.Tightening torque: 17 N.m (12 lb.ft)

6. Connect the connectors of the fuel temperature sensor and the SCV to the fuel supply pump.
7. Install the fuel pipe bracket. Tightening torque: 6 N.m (52 lb.in).

8. Install the fuel pipe. Tightening torque: 44 N.m (33 lb.ft)

9. Install the fuel pipe bracket. Tightening torque: 24 N.m (17 lb.ft)

10. Install the intake pipe and the intake throttle valve.
- Connect the connector of the boost pressure sensor.

Fuel Supply Pump Relearn Procedure

The ECM goes through a fuel supply pump learn procedure to fine tune the current supplied to the fuel rail pressure (FRP) regulator. This learning process in only performed when the engine is idling.

11. Install a scan tool.
12. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
13. Command the Supply Pump Learn Reset with the scan tool.
14. Observe the Supply Pump Status parameter with the scan tool. Confirm the scan tool indicates Not Learn.
15. Start the engine and let idle until engine coolant temperature (ECT) reads 149° F (65° C) or higher while observing Supply Pump Status parameter with the scant tool. The scan tool changes status Not Lean > Tentative > Learning > Learned.
16. If the ECM has correctly learned the fuel supply pump current adjustment, the Supply Pump Status parameter on the scan tool will indicate Learned.
