SUBJECT:
Windshield Frame Header Seal - Butyl Adhesive Squeeze-Out At Top Corners

OVERVIEW:
This bulletin involves removing excess butyl adhesive from the ends of the windshield header seal.

MODELS:

2007 - **2008** (JK) Wrangler

NOTE:
** This bulletin applies to Wrangler vehicles equipped with a soft top or combination top, built on or before August 24, 2007 (MDH 0824XX). **

SYMPTOM/CONDITION:

The customer may notice an excessive amount of adhesive (butyl) at the top of the A-Pillar, left and/or right side. The excess butyl adhesive comes from the windshield header seal. If sufficient heat is present, the adhesive may adhere to the windshield, door frame, door seal, or door glass. Under certain conditions, the adhesive may pull on the door seal and loosen the seal from the door frame.

DIAGNOSIS:

If the above condition is present perform the Repair Procedure.





PARTS REQUIRED:

REPAIR PROCEDURE:

1. With a clean cloth apply Mopar Super Kleen Bug, Tar, and Spot Remover (or equivalent naphtha solvent) to the affected areas (windshield frame, door, seals, etc.). Follow all container instructions and precautions.

2. Verify that the door seal is correctly installed to the door frame.

3. Inspect and perform the above steps, as necessary, to the other side of the vehicle.
