Inner Tie Rod End






INNER TIE ROD END

Special Tools:










1. Apply Mopar(R) Lock & Seal Adhesive or equivalent thread lock adhesive to the inboard side of the inner tie rod end.
2. Thread the inner tie rod to the rack and pinion.
3. Using the Inner Tie Rod Socket (1) and the Inner Tie Rod Adapter Wrench (2), tighten the inner tie rod end to 108 Nm (80 ft.lbs.).






NOTE: Lubricant between the boot and tie rod end will allow the toe adjustment procedure without twisting the boot.

4. Apply a small amount of Mopar(R) Lubriplate, or equivalent in the recessed area of the inner tie rod where the boot attaches.
5. Position the large clamp (1) on the boot (2) and install the boot over the inner tie rod (3) and rack.
6. Engage the small end of the boot in the groove and install the small boot clamp (1).
7. Using a 90 degree crimp tool, or equivalent, tighten the large boot clamp (1).





8. Install the jam nut (1) to the inner tie rod end (2).

NOTE: The toe adjustment procedure must be performed after installing the outer tie rod.

9. Install the outer tie rod (3) Tie Rod End - Installation.
10. After toe adjustment, tighten the jam nut (1) to 75 Nm (55 ft.lbs).
