REPAIR PROCEDURE:
1. Using the Diagnostic Tester, check for Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs). If DTC P0456 is present, check for an EVAP leak at the charcoal canister.
CANISTER LEAK CHECK:
A. Disconnect the Refueling valve hose (at the canister side) & cap the refueling Valve.
B. Install the EVAP service port adapter to the green EVAP test port (by the intake manifold)
C. Turn ON the CCV vsv. (TDT Active test)
D. Connect a vacuum/Pressure pump to the service port adapter.
E. Create 4" of vacuum (20 ~ 40 pump stroke, depending on the pump capacity)
a. If test fails to create/hold vacuum for 1 minute, then clamp the EVAP (Purge) hose as close to the canister as possible ("1") and repeat Step E again.
b. If test fails to create/hold vacuum for 1 minute, then the purge hose is leaking.
c. If the vacuum holds, then the canister is leaking.
d. Replace the charcoal canister and retest the system completely.
If no leak is detected at the charcoal canister, this TSB does not apply.
2. To correct a leak at the charcoal canister, replace the charcoal canister according to the 2005 model year GX470 Repair Manual charcoal canister replacement procedure. Refer to ETAS, 2005 model year GX470 Repair Manual: Emission Control: Charcoal Canister Assy (2UZ-FE): Replacement.
