System Outline
System Outline- The SRS air bag are provided for the driver and front passenger. The SRS air bags have been designed to help reducing the shocks to the heads and chests of the driver and front passenger in the event of a severe frontal impact collision as supplements to the seat belts. This system is a 3 sensor type air bag system to detect the impact during a front collision using the center air bag sensor assembly and air bag sensor front LH, RH, and to make the air bag system and pretensioner operate as well.
- In this system, a front side collision is detected by the side air bag sensor front LH, RH in order to simultaneously deploy the side and curtain shield air bags. A rear side collision is detected by the side air bag sensor rear LH, RH in order to deploy only the curtain shield air bag.
- Roll sensing of curtain shield air bags control has been adopted in order to deploy the curtain shield air bags and the pretensioners for the driver and front passenger, in the event that the vehicle rolls over. A roll sensing of curtain shield air bags cutoff SW is provided on the driver side of the instrument panel to enable the driver to disable this system.
- Dual stage SRS air bag system, that controls the air bag inflating output optimum by judging the extent of impact and seat position (Driver seat), has been used for the driver and front passenger air bags.
- In accordance with the adoption of the dual stage SRS air bag system, a seat position sensor has been established for the driver seat.
- This system has adopted a fuel cut control that stops the fuel pump when the air bag is deployed.
- Passenger occupant classification system detects a passenger in the passenger seat and controls to deploy air bag of the passenger seat appropriately.
