SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM: FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG ASSEMBLY: REMOVAL
REMOVAL
1. PRECAUTION
CAUTION:
Be sure to read "PRECAUTION" thoroughly before servicing Service Precautions.
2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
CAUTION:
Wait for 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable to prevent the airbag working.
3. PLACE FRONT WHEELS FACING STRAIGHT AHEAD
4. REMOVE STEERING WHEEL COVER LOWER NO. 3 Removal
5. REMOVE STEERING WHEEL COVER LOWER NO. 2 Removal
6. REMOVE STEERING PAD Removal
7. REMOVE STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY Removal
8. REMOVE STEERING COLUMN COVER LOWER Removal
9. REMOVE STEERING COLUMN COVER UPPER
10. DISCONNECT FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG ASSEMBLY CONNECTOR
(a) Remove the glove compartment door sub-assembly.
(b) Remove the glove compartment door pad plate from the instrument panel finish panel lower No. 2.
(c) Using a screwdriver, slide the airbag connector to pull out from the glove compartment door pad plate.
(d) Disconnect the connector from the passenger airbag assembly connector.
NOTE:
When handling the airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.
11. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL SAFETY PAD SUB-ASSEMBLY
12. REMOVE FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG ASSEMBLY
(a) Disengage the 2 crews.
(b) Release the rear side wall of the airbag door from the hook by slightly deflecting it and roll the front passenger airbag assembly forward.
(c) Release the front side wall of the airbag door from the other hook and remove the front passenger airbag assembly.
