PINPOINT TEST AT: THE KEY-IN-IGNITION CHIME DOES NOT OPERATE CORRECTLY

Test AT1:

Test AT2-AT5:

Test AT6:

Normal Operation
When the key is inserted into the ignition key cylinder, the key-in-ignition switch (part of the ignition switch) closes circuit 30S-GM7 (RD/WH) to the instrument cluster. The 12 volt input signals the instrument cluster that the key is inserted. If the instrument cluster detects that the key is in the OFF or ACC position with the key inserted in the ignition key cylinder and the drivers door is ajar, the key-in-ignition warning chime (located in the instrument cluster) will sound.

Possible Causes
- circuit 30S-GM7 (RD/WH) open or shorted to ground
- key-in-ignition warning switch (part of the ignition switch)
- instrument cluster
- door ajar switch
