PINPOINT TEST 40: THE ELECTRIC POWER CHARGE/ASSIST GAUGE IS INOPERATIVE - HYBRID

Normal Operation

The electric power charge/assist gauge indicates the amount of the electric power to and from the traction battery. The gauge provides the vehicle hybrid electric system current working status. This gauge consists of the charge range (left side of the gauge) and the assist range (right side of the gauge), both displayed in kilowatts. The charge side of the gauge indicates the amount of electrical energy sent to the traction battery that is generated by the internal combustion engine generator and the regenerative braking system of the vehicle and ranges from maximum charge power to 0 power. The assist side of the gauge indicates the amount of electrical energy being drawn out of the traction battery used to power the electric drive motor and ranges from 0 power to maximum assist/boost power. If the pointer remains in the middle point of the gauge, it indicates no electric charge and no assist. The input to the gauge is a message received from the traction battery control module (TBCM) over the high speed controller area network (HS-CAN) communication bus.If the electric power charge/assist data is missing or deemed invalid for more than 5 seconds, the instrument cluster sets DTC U0100 and defaults the gauge to the full LH stop on the gauge.

Possible Causes
- TBCM
- Instrument cluster
