Connecting Rod Bearing: Testing and Inspection

BEARING INSPECTION





1. Inspect bearings for the following defects:
a. Cratering - fatigue failure

b. Spot polishing - incorrect seating

c. Imbedded dirty engine oil

d. Scratching - dirty engine oil

e. Base exposed - poor lubrication

f. Both edges worn - journal damaged

g. One edge worn - journal tapered or bearing not seated
