EXHAUST SYSTEM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [WLT-1, WLT-2]

Warning
•  When the engine and exhaust system are hot, they can cause severe burns or injury. Turn off the engine and wait until they are cool before removing the exhaust system.

1.  Disconnect the negative battery cable.

2.  Remove in the order indicated in the table.

3.  Install in the reverse order of removal.

4.  Start the engine and:

(1)  Inspect the exhaust gas leakage.
(2)  If any servicing around the turbocharger is performed, inspect around the turbocharger for oil leakage.

Seal Ring Removal Note

1.  Remove the seal ring using a flathead screwdriver being careful not to damage the pipe.

Turbocharger Removal Note

•  Do not drop the turbocharger.
•  Do not bend the wastegate actuator mounting or rod.
•  Cover the intake, exhaust and oil passages to prevent dirt or other objects from entering.

Oil Pipe (Supply) Installation Note

1.  Be sure to confirm that the turbocharger is installed correctly, then install the oil pipe (supply).


Front Pipe Installation Note

1.  Temporarily tighten the nuts A.

Tightening torque:
A: 37.3—52.0 N·m {3.81—5.30 kg·m, 27.6—38.3 ft·lbf}
B: 21.6—28.4 N·m {2.21—2.89 kg·m, 16.0—20.9 ft·lbf}
C: 19—25 N·m {2.0—2.5 kg·m, 15—18 ft·lbf}

2.  Temporarily tighten the bolts B and C.

3.  Completely tighten the nuts A.

4.  Completely tighten the bolts B and C.


Seal Ring Installation Note

Caution
•  If installation is performed without using the SST, the seal ring will be damaged and deformed, resulting in an incorrect installation. Always use the SST to install the seal ring.

1.  Temporarily install the seal ring to the pipe so that the seal ring is even with the flange.

2.  Install the SST to the seal ring so that the SST is even with the flange.

3.  Press in the seal ring by tapping the SST using a plastic hammer until the seal ring contacts the flange.

Oxidation Catalytic Converter, Middle Pipe Installation Note

1.  Spray carbon remover (TB6601 or equivalent) on the flared section of the exhaust pipe.

2.  Remove the carbon adhering to the flared section shown in the figure using a nylon brush or sandpaper (No. 400 or equivalent).
