METER HOOD REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

Warning

•  Handling the air bag module improperly can accidentally operate (deploy) the air bag module, which may seriously injure you. Read the service warnings and cautions before handling the air bag module. (See AIR BAG SYSTEM SERVICE WARNINGS.) (See AIR BAG SYSTEM SERVICE CAUTIONS.)

1.  Remove the following parts:

(1)  Column cover (See COLUMN COVER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

(2)  Windshield wiper and washer switch (vehicles with tilt lever) (See WINDSHIELD WIPER AND WASHER SWITCH REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

(3)  Light switch (vehicles with tilt lever) (See LIGHT SWITCH REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

(4)  Driver-side air bag module (vehicles without tilt lever) (See DRIVER-SIDE AIR BAG MODULE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

(5)  Steering wheel (vehicles without tilt lever) (See STEERING WHEEL AND COLUMN REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

(6)  Clock spring (vehicles without tilt lever) (See CLOCK SPRING REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

(7)  Combination switch (vehicles without tilt lever) (See COMBINATION SWITCH REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

(8)  Steering shaft (vehicles without tilt lever) (See STEERING WHEEL AND COLUMN REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

2.  Pull the meter hood and remove clips A and the pins and tabs C.

3.  Remove the meter hood.

4.  Install in the reverse order of removal.
