DTC P1608

PCM internal circuit malfunction
DETECTION CONDITION
•  The PCM does not read DTC from output devices.
POSSIBLE CAUSE
•  PCM does not read DTC from output devices.
•  Short to power supply circuit in wiring from output devices (purge solenoid valve, PRC solenoid valve, IAC valve and/or fuel injectors) to PCM

VERIFY RELATED SERVICE INFORMATION AVAILABILITY
•  Check for related Service Information availability.
•  Is any related Service Information available?
Yes
Perform repair or diagnosis according to available Service Information.
•  If vehicle is not repaired, go to the next step.
No
Go to the next step.

•  Disconnect output devices and PCM connector.
•  Is there continuity between the following connectors?
―  PCM harness side connector terminal 2X and 1B
―  PCM harness side connector terminal 2T and 1B
―  PCM harness side connector terminal 2W and 1B
―  PCM harness side connector terminal 2U and 1B
―  PCM harness side connector terminal 2V and 1B
Yes
Repair short to power supply circuit.
Replace the PCM.

No
Replace the PCM, then go to the next step.

VERIFY TROUBLESHOOTING OF DTC P1608 COMPLETED
•  Make sure to reconnect all disconnected connectors.
•  Clear DTC from memory using the M-MDS.
•  Start engine.
•  Retrieve the DTCs using the M-MDS.
•  Is same DTC present?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Go to the next step.

VERIFY AFTER REPAIR PROCEDURE
•  Perform “AFTER REPAIR PROCEDURE”.
•  Is there any DTC present?
Yes
Go to applicable DTC inspection.

No
Troubleshooting completed.
