Resistance Inspection

Note

• Perform the following test only when directed.

1. Carry out the “idle air control (IAC) inspection”. (See ENGINE CONTROL SYSTEM OPERATION INSPECTION [F2].)

• If not as operate, perform the further inspection for the IAC valve.

2. Disconnect the negative battery cable.

3. Disconnect the IAC valve connector.

4. Measure the resistance between the IAC valve terminals.

• If not as specified, replace the BAC valve. (See BYPASS AIR CONTROL (BAC) VALVE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [F2].)

• If as specified, but IAC valve is failed, inspect for the following.

IAC valve resistance

7.7—9.3 ohms [23°C {73°F}]

Open circuit

• Power circuit (IAC valve connector terminal A and main relay terminal D)

• ground circuit (IAC valve connector terminal B and PCM connector terminal 2W)

Short circuit

• IAC valve connector terminal B and PCM connector terminal 2W to ground

5. Repair or replace faulty areas.

6. Connect the IAC valve connector.

7. Connect the negative battery cable.
