CLOSED THROTTLE POSITION (CTP) SWITCH INSPECTION [G6]

Caution

•  The CTP switch is set at the factory. Do not try to adjust it.

•  Removing the CTP switch can negatively affect the engine.

Note

•  Perform the following test only when directed.

1.  Disconnect the CTP switch connector.

2.  Inspect for continuity between the CTP switch terminal and a GND.

•  If not as specified, replace the throttle body.

•  If there is no malfunction, but PID valve is out of specification, inspect as follows and repair or replace as necessary.

Specification

Open circuit

•  CTP signal circuit (CTP switch connector terminal and PCM connector terminal 1N)

•  GND circuit (CTP switch body to GND)

Short circuit

•  CTP signal circuit (CTP switch connector terminal and PCM connector terminal 1N to GND)

3.  Reconnect CTP switch connector.
