•  The PCM controls the glow plug relay when each timer is operating or while cranking.

Pre-glow Timer Control

•  The PCM controls the glow plug relay for several seconds according to the ECT when the engine switch is turned on. The operating time of the pre-glow timer control increases as the ECT decreases.
•  The glow indicator light illuminates while the pre-glow timer is operating to show that glow system is operating.

Hold Temperature Timer Control

•  The PCM controls the glow plug relay for approx. 15 s when the engine switch is turned on with the ECT below 60 °C {140 °F}.

Long After-glow Timer Control

•  The PCM controls the glow plug relay for approx. 10 min. immediately after cranking when the engine is started with the ECT below 60 °C {140 °F}. The PCM stops the long after-glow timer under any of the following conditions.
Inhibit condition
•  ECT is above 60 °C {140 °F}.
•  Glow plug voltage is above 16 V.
•  ECT sensor malfunctions.
