No temperature control

DESCRIPTION

•  Malfunction in blower unit and/or climate control unit air mix system.

POSSIBLE CAUSE

•  Malfunction in heater unit’s air mix rod, air mix link, air mix cranks, air mix shaft, air mix wire or wire clamp (Step 2, 3)

•  Bevel gear set (2) in climate control unit, air mix wire or wire clamp malfunction (Step 4)

•  Heater unit air mix door malfunction (Step 5, 6)

Diagnostic procedure

STEP	INSPECTION		ACTION
1	INSPECT COOLANT TEMPERATURE • Is coolant sufficiently warmed up?	Yes	Go to the next step.
1		No	Warm engine up, then go to Step 7.
2	INSPECT A/C UNIT AIR MIX SYSTEM • Inspect heater unit’s air mix rod, air mix link, air mix cranks air mix shaft and wire clamp ― Is there grease on air mix rod, air mix link and cranks? ― Are air mix rod, air mix link, air mix cranks, and air mix shaft securely installed in their proper positions? ― Is wire clamp free of deformation? • Are above items okay?	Yes	Go to the next step.
2		No	Apply grease or install air mix rod, air mix link, air mix cranks, and air mix shaft securely in their proper positions, repair wire clamp, then go to Step 7.
3	VERIFY THAT AIR MIX WIRE FROM A/C UNIT IS POSITIONED SECURELY AND CORRECTCRY • Is air mix wire securely installed in the correct position in relation to heater unit’s air mix link?	Yes	Go to the next step.
3		No	Adjust air mix wire or install securely in correct position, then go to Step 7.
4	INSPECT CLIMATE CONTROL UNIT • Inspect climate control unit. ― Is bevel gear set properly engaged? ― Is air mix wire properly installed in correct position in relation to bevel gear? ― Is wire clamp free of deformation? • Are above items okay?	Yes	Go to the next step.
4		No	Properly engage bevel gear set or install air mix wire in correct position, repair or replace wire clamp, then go to Step 7.
5	INSPECT A/C UNIT • Is there any foreign material or obstruction in heater unit’s air mix doors?	Yes	Remove obstruction, then go to Step 7.
5		No	Go to the next step.
6	INSPECT A/C UNIT AIR MIX DOORS • Is heater unit’s air mix door securely and properly installed?.	Yes	Inspect door cracks or damage, the go to the next step.
6		No	Install door securely in proper position, then go to the next step.
7	CONFIRM THAT MALFUNCTION SYMPTOMS DO NOT RECUR AFTER REPAIR • Does unit operate in every temperature setting?	Yes	Troubleshooting completed. Explain repairs to customer.
7		No	Recheck malfunction symptoms, then repeat from Step 1 if malfunction recurs.
