WATER TEMPERATURE SENDER UNIT INSPECTION

Water temperature sender unit (WL-3)

1.  Remove the water temperature sender unit. (See WATER TEMPERATURE SENDER UNIT REMOVAL [WL-3])

2.  Place the sender unit in a container of water.

3.  Heat the water gradually.

4.  Measure and verify that the resistance between terminal of the sender unit and the sender unit body is as shown below.

•  If not as specified, replace the water temperature sender unit.

ECT sensor (WL-C, WE-C)

1.  Remove the ECT sensor. (See ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE (ECT) SENSOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [WL-C, WE-C].)

2.  Place the ECT sensor in a container of water.

3.  Heat the water gradually.

4.  Measure and verify that the resistance between ECT sensor terminal C and the ECT sensor body is as shown below.

•  If not as specified, replace the ECT sensor.
