id0110b5800600
Engine Tune-up Preparation
1. Start the engine and warm up completely.
2. Verify that the gear is in neutral position.
3. Verify that the accelerator pedal is released.
4. Turn off the A/C switch. (if equipped)
5. Turn off all electrical loads.
6. Verify that no DTC is present.
Idle Speed Inspection
Using M-MDS
1. Perform “Engine Tune-up Preparation”. (See Engine Tune-up Preparation.)
2. Connect the M-MDS to the DLC.

3. Verify that the idling speed (M-MDS: RPM PID) is within the specification using the M-MDS function.
Not using M-MDS
1. Perform “Engine Tune-up Preparation”. (See Engine Tune-up Preparation.)
2. Connect a tachometer to the DLC terminal IG–.

3. Turn on the test mode.
4. Verify that the idle speed is within the specification.
Injection Timing Adjustment
1. Rotate the crankshaft clockwise and align the crankshaft pulley TDC mark (yellow mark) with the indicator pin.

2. Remove the hydraulic head plug of the fuel injection pump.
3. Insert the SST into the hydraulic head plug hole and install it so that the dial gauge indicates approx. 2 mm {0.08 in}.

4. Rotate the crankshaft counterclockwise and find the place where the dial gauge needle does not move near approx. 30°BTDC. (SST installation bolt hole of crankshaft pulley and indicator pin align at approx. 30°BTDC)

5. Set the dial gauge to 0 mm {0 in}.
6. Rotate the crankshaft clockwise and read the dial gauge when the 10°ATDC mark (white mark) of the crankshaft pulley and the indicator pin align.

7. If it is not within the specification, loosen the bolts and nuts of the fuel injection pump, and adjust them to the specification.
8. Tighten the fuel injection pump in the order shown in the figure.
