Tire air pressure sensor setting

1. Tire air pressure sensor safety information

1. Precautions

If the following parts are replaced, the tire air pressure sensor ID must be written to the wireless access module.

  • Wireless access module (If communication cannot be established with scan tool before replacement)
  • Tire air pressure sensor

Note

  • When writing the tire air pressure sensor ID to the wireless access module, write the 4 IDs.
  • The scan tool used for the replacement procedure must be the same from start to finish. If the scan tool is changed midway, information cannot be written correctly.

Caution

  • If the following is performed during registration of the tire air pressure sensors, start over from the beginning.
  • Turn OFF the ignition switch.
  • Change the TPMS-related function settings.
  • Operate the vehicle.

Caution

  • If the following operations are performed, use the special tool to activate the tire air pressure sensors.
  • Tire air pressure sensor replacement
  • Any running wheel replaced with a spare tire

Note

  • The new tire air pressure sensor and the tire air pressure sensor of the spare tire do not emit radio waves because they are in the sleep state.

2. Regarding the special tool

Use the special tool to activate the tire air pressure sensors. The special tool is necessary when performing the following operations.

  • When activating the new tire air pressure sensor or the tire air pressure sensor of the spare tire
  • When performing wireless access module programming without using the automatic registration function.
  • When identifying the tire air pressure sensors installed to each tire during diagnosis
  • When observing the tire air pressure sensor data with a scan tool while the vehicle is stopped and not running

Note

  • If 2 or more tire air pressure sensors are activated at the same time when using the special tool, perform again after removing the spare tire from the vehicle.

2. Tire air pressure sensor setting

1. When using a scan tool

1) Connect the scan tool to the DLC.

2) Turn ON the ignition switch.

3) Select Data Display on the scan tool.

  • Diagnostics > Body > WAM (Wireless Access Module) > Data Display

4) Face the special tool toward the tire air pressure sensors installed to each tire.

11) If the tire air pressure sensor information written in procedure 6) matches the information sent from the tire air pressure sensor in procedure 9), the sensor registration is completed.

12) If the 2 pieces of information do not match, start over from the beginning.

13) Turn OFF the ignition switch.

14) Turn ON the ignition switch.

15) Use a scan tool to confirm that a DTC has not been set.

2. In the case of automatic registration and automatic location

1) Operate the vehicle at 40 km/h {25 mph} or more for 5 to 10 minutes or more.

Note

  • The tire air pressure sensors are installed to all the tires including a spare tire. However, the spare tire does not emit radio waves because it does not rotate.

2) Turn OFF the ignition switch.

3) Turn ON the ignition switch.

4) Use a scan tool to confirm that a DTC has not been set.
