EGR gas pressure sensor inspection (4JJ3 with DPD)

1. EGR gas pressure sensor inspection

1) Inspect the EGR gas pressure sensor for the following.

  • Inspect for dirt and other foreign material attached to the sensor section.
  • Inspect for causes of poor connections such as collapsing or bending of the terminals.

2. EGR gas pressure pipe inspection

1. Inspection timing

The EGR gas pressure pipe should be inspected during work including installation and removal of the DPD.

2. EGR gas pressure inspection

1) Start the engine.

2) Check the EGR gas pressure sensor value while idling.

3) Check the EGR gas pressure sensor value when the engine speed reaches the maximum from the no-load speed of 3,000 rpm.

4) Check whether the difference between the sensor values measured in step 2 and step 3 is more than or equal to the standard value.

Standard: 25.0 kPa or more { 0.3 kgf/cm2 or more / 3.6 psi or more }

5) Check again the EGR gas pressure sensor value while idling.

6) Check whether the EGR gas pressure sensor value becomes the same as that measured in step 2.

Note

  • When the sensor value is within the standard range and the measured values in step 1 and step 6 are the same, the EGR gas pressure pipe is normal.

Caution

  • If both conditions are not met, clean the inside of the EGR gas pressure pipe using an air blower.
  • If it is not recovered even after the cleaning with an air blower, be sure to replace the EGR gas pressure pipe.
