1. Leaf spring inspection

1. Visual inspection (All models)

1) Inspect the leaf spring for the following.

  • Breakage, wear, and corrosion (Especially on both edges and around the center bolt hole)

2) Inspect the center bolt for the following.

  • Bent
  • Excessive wear
  • Other damage

3) Inspect the clip for the following.

  • Bent
  • Excessive wear
  • Other damage

4) Inspect the U-bolt for the following.

  • Deformation
  • Rust
  • Other damage

Caution

  • Particularly, inspect the threaded portion of the U-bolt carefully.
  • If there is rust on the threaded portion, remove it using a die.

5) Inspect the spring pin and shackle pin for the following.

  • Damaged threaded portion

6) Inspect the bumper rubber for the following.

  • Breakage
  • Fatigue
  • Peeling

7) Inspect the rubber bushing for the following.

  • Wear
  • Damage

2. Visual inspection (2WD (Except high ride suspension specifications))

1) Inspect the seat for the following.

  • Wear
  • Damage

3. Spring pin and shackle pin measurement

1) Measure the outer diameter of the spring pin using a vernier caliper.

Standard: 13.8 to 14.0 mm { 0.54 to 0.55 in } Spring pin

Standard: 17.93 to 18.00 mm { 0.706 to 0.709 in } Shackle pin
