Independent suspension inspection

1. Stabilizer bar inspection

1) Inspect the stabilizer bar, bushing, and link for the following.

  • Wear
  • Damage
  • Corrosion
  • Other malfunctions

2. Upper link inspection

1) Inspect the upper link and bushing for the following.

  • Wear
  • Damage
  • Corrosion
  • Other malfunctions

2) Inspect the dust cover of the ball joint for the following.

  • Cracking
  • Grease leakage
  • Deformation and seal detaching
  • Other malfunctions

3) Inspect the tapered section of the ball joint for the following.

  • Damage
  • Other malfunctions

4) When moving the ball joint by hand, inspect whether it moves normally without catching or getting stuck.

Note

  • Replace the ball joint if it does not move normally.

3. Shock absorber inspection

1. Visual inspection

1) Inspect the shock absorber for the following.

  • Significant oil leakage
  • Bushing wear, damage, or other abnormal conditions

2. Functional Inspection

1) Inspect for the following.

  • Can a strong resistance be felt when it is quickly extended and contracted while holding one end?
  • Is there no play after it is extended and contracted several times?

4. Shock absorber vehicle inspection

1) Measure the temperature of the shock absorber after the vehicle has been driven on a rough road.

Note

  • If there is no temperature increase, the function has deteriorated.

5. Lower link inspection

1) Inspect the lower link and bushing for the following.

  • Wear
  • Damage
  • Corrosion
  • Other malfunctions

2) Inspect the dust cover of the ball joint for the following.

  • Cracking
  • Grease leakage
  • Deformation and seal detaching
  • Other malfunctions

3) Inspect the tapered section of the ball joint for the following.

  • Damage
  • Other malfunctions

4) When moving the ball joint by hand, inspect whether it moves normally without catching or getting stuck.

Note

  • Replace the ball joint if it does not move normally.

6. Bumper rubber inspection

1) Inspect the bumper rubber for the following.

  • Wear
  • Damage
  • Corrosion
  • Other malfunctions
