Pressure switch inspection

1. Pressure switch inspection

1. On-vehicle inspection

1) Inspect the magnetic clutch and condenser fan operation while operating the A/C and checking the refrigerant pressure for the following.

  • Door glass: Fully closed
  • Temperature adjustment: MAX COOL
  • Blower fan speed: MAX
  • Air source lever: RECIRC position

<Normal pressure (reference)>

Standard: 1,373 to 1,667 kPa { 14.0 to 17.0 kgf/cm2 } High pressure side

Standard: 127 to 245 kPa { 1.30 to 2.50 kgf/cm2 } Low pressure side

The pressure switch monitors for abnormal refrigerant pressure, and turns OFF the magnetic clutch during an abnormal condition to prevent compressor damage.

Reference value: Abnormal pressure detection

2. Continuity inspection

1) Disconnect the connector from the pressure switch.

2) Inspect for continuity between the pressure switch connector terminals using a DMM.
