Heated oxygen sensor installation (4JJ3 with DPD)

1. Heated oxygen sensor installation

1) Clean the old anti-seize lubricant on the sleeve nut, and apply new anti-seize lubricant to the threaded portion of the heated oxygen sensor sleeve nut.

Note

  • If the heated oxygen sensor is replaced with a new one, it is not necessary to apply new anti-seize lubricant.

Caution

  • Apply Never-Seez High Temperature Stainless Grade 5-87411-039-0 by Bostik of USA as the anti-seize lubricant.
  • Do not allow paint, lubricant, dust, etc., to adhere to the sensor.
  • When replacing the heated oxygen sensor with a new one, immediately install it to the exhaust pipe after removing the sensor protection cap.

2) Install the heated oxygen sensor to the DPD.

Tightening torque: 50 N・m { 5.1 kgf・m / 37 lb・ft }

Legend

  1. Heated oxygen sensor
  2. Exhaust gas temperature sensor 2 (Front of oxidation catalyst)

3) Connect the connector to the heated oxygen sensor.

2. Preliminary and post procedures

1. Post procedures

1) Connect the battery cable to the battery negative terminal.

2) Referring to the following, perform the setting of the front door power window switch with AUTO UP/AUTO DOWN function.

Refer to "9.Body, Cab, Accessories 9T.Glass, Windows, Mirrors front door power window switch setting".

3) Close the engine hood.

3. ECM setting

1. Precautions

If the heated oxygen sensor is replaced, perform the following.

  • Clear Learned Value (Lambda Sensor)
  • Clear Learned Value (Fuel Mass Observer)

2. Clear Learned Value (Lambda Sensor)

1) Turn ON the ignition switch.

Caution

  • Do not start the engine.

2) Select the scan tool item.

  • Diagnostics > Engine > 4JJ3 > Special Function > Clear Data > Clear Learned Value (Lambda Sensor)

3) Perform Clear Learned Value (Lambda Sensor) by following the on-screen instructions.

3. Clear Learned Value (Fuel Mass Observer)

1) Turn ON the ignition switch.

Caution

  • Do not start the engine.

2) Select the scan tool item.

  • Diagnostics > Engine > 4JJ3 > Special Function > Clear Data > Clear Learned Value (Fuel Mass Observer)

3) Perform Clear Learned Value (Fuel Mass Observer) by following the on-screen instructions.

4) After Clear Learned Value (Fuel Mass Observer) is complete, turn OFF the ignition switch for 30 seconds.
