1. Oil leakage from rear axle diagnostics

1. Oil leakage from the differential carrier

Excessive differential oil

  • Correct the oil level.

Worn or defective oil seal

  • Replace the oil seal.

Clogged air breather

  • Clean the air breather.

Loose differential carrier bolt

  • Tighten the bolt to the specified torque.

Defective differential carrier liquid gasket

  • Reapply liquid gasket.

Loose or damaged pinion flange

  • Tighten or replace.

2. Axle case oil leakage

Loose filler plug and drain plug or defective gasket

  • Tighten the filler plug and drain plug. Or, replace the gasket.

Defective gasket of the filler plug and drain plug

  • Replace the filler plug and drain plug gasket.

Clogged air breather

  • Clean the air breather.

Axle case cracking

  • Replace the axle case.

Loose differential carrier bolt

  • Tighten the bolt to the specified torque.

Defective differential carrier liquid gasket

  • Reapply liquid gasket.

3. Oil leakage from the axle case to the inside brake drum

Worn or defective oil seal

  • Replace the oil seal.
