1. Stoplight switch inspection

1. Visual inspection

1) Inspect the stoplight switch for the following.

  • Damage
  • Other malfunctions

2. Continuity inspection

1) Inspect for continuity between the stoplight switch terminals using a DMM.

Type 1

  3. Terminal 3
  4. Terminal 4

Type 2

Legend

  1. Terminal 1
  2. Terminal 2

 Continuity between terminal 1 and terminal 2
 Continuity between terminal 3 and terminal 4

(State where the brake pedal is released.)

2. Stoplight switch vehicle inspection

1. Stoplight inspection

1) Turn ON the ignition switch.

2) Disconnect the harness connectors from the stoplight switch.

3) Connect a jumper wire between disconnected harness connector terminals 1 and 2.

Note

  • Repair or replace as necessary if the stoplight does not illuminate.
