1. Abnormal noise

Damaged or worn spline section

  • Replace.

Wear or failure of the needle roller bearing

  • Replace.

Loose or fallen flange yoke tightening bolt

  • Retighten to the specified torque.

Loose or fallen center bearing tightening bolt

  • Retighten to the specified torque.

Worn universal joint

  • Replace.

Loose or non-synchronous end yoke

  • Remove the end yoke and rotate it 180°from the original position, apply the lubricant to the spline, and reinstall.
  • Tighten the nuts and pinion nuts to the specified torque.

Unbalanced propeller shaft

  • Correct the balance or replace.

2. Vibrations

Excessive crankshaft runout

  • Replace.

Worn transmission rear housing bushing and transfer case housing bushing

  • Replace.

Spline section failure

  • Replace.

Unbalanced propeller shaft

  • Correct the balance or replace.

Loose or fallen flange yoke tightening bolt

  • Retighten to the specified torque.

Loose or fallen center bearing tightening bolt

  • Retighten to the specified torque.
