2. Rear case reassembly

1) Install the main shaft rear bearing snap ring to the rear case.

2) Install the counter shaft rear bearing to the rear case.

Note

  • Use driver tool set No. 52.

3) Install the counter shaft rear bearing snap ring to the rear case.

Caution

  • Do not reuse the counter shaft rear bearing snap ring.

4) Apply the grease to the needle bearing.

5) Install the reverse idle gear to the rear case.

Note

  • Install the following parts to the rear case, and tighten the bolts together with the gasket.
  • Reverse idle shaft
  • Reverse idle shaft bracket
  • Needle bearing
  • Reverse idle gear

Caution

  • The reverse idle gear surface with the stepped section should face toward the clutch housing side.
  • Do not reuse the gasket.

Tightening torque: 83 N・m { 8.5 kgf・m / 61 lb・ft }

3. Rear oil seal installation

1. 2WD models

1) Apply the recommended lubricating oil to the outer circumference of the rear oil seal.

2) Install the rear oil seal to the rear case using the special tool.

Caution

  • Do not reuse the rear oil seal.
  • When press-fitting, take care not to damage the lip section of the oil seal.

Standard: 3.5 to 4.5 mm { 0.138 to 0.177 in }

Standard value

a: 3.5 to 4.5 mm { 0.138 to 0.177 in }

3) Apply grease to the lip section.

Note

  • Apply BESCO L-2 grease or equivalent to the lip section.

4) Install the dust cover to the rear case using the special tool.

2. 4WD models

1) Apply the recommended lubricating oil to the outer circumference of the rear oil seal.

2) Install the rear oil seal to the rear case using the special tool.
