1. Central gateway control unit safety information

1. Precautions

When replacing the central gateway control unit, make sure to write vehicle information into the new central gateway control unit.

The scan tool used for the replacement procedure must be the same from start to finish. If the scan tool is changed midway, information cannot be written correctly.

Perform the central gateway control unit replacement and programming according to the following procedure.

2. Contents of Programming

1) Program VIN (Vehicle Identification Number)

The purpose of this function is to write the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) when the central gateway control unit is replaced.

2) ECU Lock

The purpose of this function is to provide a security lock if the central gateway control unit is replaced. When the central gateway control unit is replaced with a new one, a DTC will be set if ECU Lock is not performed.

3) DTC verification/clearing

The purpose of this function is to check if any DTCs are set. If a DTC is set, clear the DTC, and then check again to make sure that no DTC is set.

1. Central gateway control unit replacement

1) Replace the central gateway control unit.

2. Vehicle identification number (VIN) programming

1) Select "Programming" on the scan tool.

  • Diagnostics > Body > CGW(Central GateWay) > Programming

2) Select Program VIN (Vehicle Identification Number), and enter the vehicle identification number (VIN) indicated on the ID plate.

3. ECU Lock

Note

  • Perform only when replacing the central gateway control unit with a new one.

1) Select "Programming" on the scan tool.

  • Diagnostics > Body > CGW(Central GateWay) > Programming

2) Select ECU Lock, and follow the on-screen instructions to perform the ECU Lock.

3) After completing the ECU Lock, turn the ignition switch OFF for 30 seconds.

4. DTC verification/clearing

1) Observe the DTC information with a scan tool.

2) If a DTC is set, clear the DTC.

3) Turn OFF the ignition switch.

4) Turn ON the ignition switch.

5) Observe the DTC information with a scan tool.

6) If a DTC is set, go to the applicable diagnosis.
