1. Instrument panel cluster safety information

If replacing the instrument panel cluster, it is necessary to write the vehicle information into the new instrument panel cluster.

When replacing the instrument panel cluster, before removal upload the old instrument panel cluster data to a scan tool, referring to the following.

During the replacement procedure, the same scan tool must be used from start to finish. If the scan tool is changed midway, information cannot be written correctly.

2. Instrument panel cluster setting

1. Vehicle information download

Only when communication between the old instrument panel cluster and the scan tool can be established, perform the vehicle information download.

Caution

  • Make sure to check the vehicle specification before performing the download.

1) Connect the scan tool to the DLC.

2) Turn ON the ignition switch.

3) Select "Download Vehicle Configuration Data" on the scan tool.

  • Diagnostics > Body > Meter > Programming > Download Vehicle Configuration Data

4) Download the vehicle data to the instrument panel cluster by following the on-screen instructions.

5) Turn OFF the ignition switch for 30 seconds.

6) Select "Module Information" on the scan tool.

  • Diagnostics > Body > Meter > Module Information

7) Make sure to check that the stored vehicle information has been programmed before replacing the instrument panel cluster.

8) Turn OFF the ignition switch for 30 seconds.

9) Turn ON the ignition switch.

10) Check display of the meter.

Note

  • If the data is not written into the instrument panel cluster, the instrument panel cluster will flash the following warning light when the ignition switch is ON.
  • If it flashes, the instrument panel cluster will not function. Check that the displays do not flash after writing.

2. Vehicle information programming

If communication between the old instrument panel cluster and the scan tool could not be established, it is necessary to set the vehicle data into the instrument panel cluster.

1) Connect the scan tool to the DLC.

2) Turn ON the ignition switch.

3) Turn ON the scan tool.

4) Select "Vehicle Configuration Setting" on the scan tool.

  • Diagnostics > Body > Meter > Programming > Program Vehicle Configuration Data

5) Program the vehicle data by following the on-screen instructions.

6) Select "Module Information" on the scan tool.

  • Diagnostics > Body > Meter > Module Information

7) Make sure to check that the stored vehicle information has been programmed before replacing the instrument panel cluster.

8) Turn OFF the ignition switch for 30 seconds.

9) Turn ON the ignition switch.

10) Check display of the meter.

Note

  • If the data is not written into the instrument panel cluster, the instrument panel cluster will flash the following warning light when the ignition switch is ON.
  • If it flashes, the instrument panel cluster will not function. Check that the displays do not flash after writing.

3. Vehicle identification number (VIN) programming

1) Connect the scan tool to the DLC.

2) Turn ON the ignition switch.

3) Select "Program VIN (Vehicle Identification Number)" on the scan tool.

  • Diagnostics > Body > Meter > Programming > Program VIN (Vehicle Identification Number)

4) Following the on-screen instructions, operate the scan tool to program the VIN into the control panel.

Note

  • Input the VIN indicated on the vehicle ID plate.

4. DTC verification/clearing

1) Observe the DTC information with a scan tool.

2) If a DTC is set, clear the DTC.

3) Turn OFF the ignition switch.

4) Turn ON the ignition switch.

5) Observe the DTC information with a scan tool.

6) If a DTC is set, go to the applicable diagnosis.
