Parking brake switch inspection

1. Parking brake switch inspection

1) Inspect the parking brake switch for the following.

  • Wear
  • Damage
  • Other malfunctions

2. Parking brake switch vehicle inspection

1. Parking brake switch continuity inspection

1) Disconnect the harness connector from the parking brake switch.

2) Inspect for continuity in the parking brake switch using a DMM.

Parking brake
 Between switch terminal and body ground
Operation
 Continuity
Released
 No continuity

Note

  • Repair or replace if any abnormal conditions are found.

Legend

  1. Terminal

2. Warning light inspection

1) Disconnect the harness connector from the parking brake switch.

2) Connect a jumper wire between the disconnected harness connector terminal and the body ground.

Note

  • Repair or replace as necessary if the warning light is not illuminated.
