ESC malfunction and excessive operation
Perform the brake control system inspection.
Refer to "54.Brake Control 4A.Troubleshooting(ABS/ESC) diagnostic System Check - Brake Controls".
Inspect for the following.
Visually inspect the vehicle condition with the following in mind before installing, removing, disassembling, and inspecting the components.
1) Indicator light/running mode check
If the ESC do not operate, check the display status of the ESC OFF indicator light.
Check whether operating the ESC OFF switch resulted in a switch to ESC OFF mode.
2) ESC operating conditions check
Check whether the vehicle speed when the ESC did not operate was 15 km/h {9 mph} or less.
3) ESC warning light check
If the ESC warning light is illuminated, observe the DTC.
If a DTC is set, go to the applicable DTC diagnosis.
4) Tire inspection
Check whether the tires of the specified size are installed.
5) DTC verification
Observe the DTC information with a scan tool.
If a DTC is set, go to the applicable DTC diagnosis.
6) Scan tool data verification
Check the scan tool data using a scan tool.
If a problem is found, repair the applicable area.
