1. Rear propeller shaft inspection

1. Visual inspection (All models)

1) Inspect the spider for the following.

  • Wear
  • Damage
  • Other malfunctions

2) Inspect the needle roller bearing for the following.

  • Wear
  • Damage
  • Other malfunctions

3) Inspect the flange yoke and center yoke for the following.

  • Wear
  • Damage
  • Other malfunctions

2. Visual inspection (Two-piece type)

1) Inspect the center bearing for the following.

  • Wear
  • Damage
  • Worn cushion rubber
  • Damage to the cushion rubber
  • Other malfunctions

3. Propeller shaft measurement

1) Measure at the center of the tube length using a dial gauge.

Two-piece type

Legend

  1. Spline yoke support position
  2. Center bearing support position
  3. Flange yoke support position

One-piece type

Legend

  1. Spline yoke support position
  2. Flange yoke support position

Limit: 1.0 mm { 0.04 in } Two-piece type

Limit: 2.0 mm { 0.08 in } One-piece type

Note

  • If the runout exceeds the limit, repair any minor issues using a bench press or replace the propeller shaft with a new one.
