Exhaust differential pressure sensor installation (4JJ3 with DPD)

1. Exhaust differential pressure sensor installation

1) Install the exhaust differential pressure sensor to the differential pressure sensor bracket.

Tightening torque: 10.0 N・m { 1.0 kgf・m / 89 lb・in }

2) Align the markings, and then connect differential pressure hoses to the exhaust differential pressure sensor.

Caution

  • Do not incorrectly assemble differential pressure hoses.
  • Install the differential pressure hose clip securely so that there is no gas leakage.
  • Do not use cracked hoses.
  • If there is gas leakage from connections, the sensor may malfunction.
  • After starting the engine, verify that there is no gas leakage.
  • If the differential pressure sensor is dropped, do not reuse it.
  • Do not use tools that apply vibrations such as an impact wrench when installing the differential pressure sensor.

3) Referring to the diagram, install the insulator to the exhaust differential pressure sensor.

Note

  • Wrap the insulator around the exhaust differential pressure sensor, and secure with a snap.
  • Fold the insulator in the direction of the arrow.

4) Referring to the diagram, install the insulator to the differential pressure hose.

Caution

  • Install the insulator so that the snap will face the rear side of the engine.
  • Install the insulator so that it will cover the hose clamp.

5) Connect the connector to the exhaust differential pressure sensor.

2. Preliminary and post procedures

1. Post procedures

1) Connect the battery cable to the battery negative terminal.

2) Referring to the following, perform the setting of the front door power window switch with AUTO UP/AUTO DOWN function.

Refer to "9.Body, Cab, Accessories 9T.Glass, Windows, Mirrors front door power window switch setting".

3) Close the engine hood.

3. Exhaust differential pressure sensor adjustment

If the exhaust differential pressure sensor is replaced, perform a 0-point correction of the exhaust differential pressure sensor on the vehicle.

1. Differential pressure sensor learning

1) Connect the scan tool to the DLC.

2) Turn ON the ignition switch.

Caution

  • Do not start the engine.

3) Observe that the following items are less than or equal to the standard value on the scan tool.

  • Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) parameter
  • Exhaust Gas Temperature (EGT) 1 parameter

Standard: 60 ℃ { 140 °F }

4) Select the scan tool item.

  • Diagnostics > Engine > 4JJ3 > Special Function > Exhaust Differential Pressure Sensor Learning

5) Perform the exhaust differential pressure sensor learning by following the on-screen instructions.

Note

  • It is necessary to wait for approximately 120 seconds for the exhaust differential pressure sensor learning.

6) The procedure is complete when the Exhaust Pressure Learning End Status parameter changes from Not Completed to Completed.

7) Turn OFF the ignition switch after the exhaust differential pressure sensor learning is complete.
