Control panel and control lever removal

1. Control panel and control lever safety information

When replacing the control panel, make sure to write vehicle information into the new control panel.

When replacing the control panel, upload the old control panel data to a scan tool before removal.

Use the same scan tool for the replacement procedure from beginning until end. If the scan tool is changed during the procedure, the correct information cannot be written.

2. Control panel and control lever upload

1. Precautions

If communication with the old control panel cannot be established, do not perform the vehicle information upload.

2. Vehicle information upload

1) Turn ON the ignition switch.

2) Select "Upload Vehicle Configuration Data" on the scan tool.

  • Diagnostics > Body > HVAC(Auto A/C) > Programming > Upload Vehicle Configuration Data

3) Upload the vehicle data to a scan tool by following the on-screen instructions.

4) After completing the upload, turn off the scan tool.

5) Turn OFF the ignition switch.

3. Preliminary and post procedures

1. Preliminary procedures

1) Open the engine hood.

2) Disconnect the battery cable from the battery negative terminal.

Caution

  • After turning OFF the ignition switch (power mode for models with passive entry and start system), do not disconnect the battery cable within 3 minutes.
  • If the battery cable is disconnected within 3 minutes, the vehicle electronic control system may malfunction.
  • If the battery cable is disconnected, perform the setting of the front door power window switch with AUTO UP/AUTO DOWN function after connecting the battery negative terminal.

4. Glove box removal

1. Models with manual A/C

1) Remove the glove box from the instrument panel.

5. Knee air bag removal

1. Models with knee airbags

Refer to "8.Restraints 8B.Airbag Systems knee air bag removal".

6. Instrument panel driver-side lower cover removal

1. Models without knee airbags

1) Disconnect the wire from each lever.

2) Remove the hood lock control lever and fuel filler lid opener lever from the instrument panel driver-side lower cover.

Note

  • Press the claw section and pull out each lever.

3) Remove the instrument panel driver-side lower cover from the instrument panel.

4) Remove the connector from the instrument panel driver-side lower cover.

7. Audio and navigation system removal

1. Models equipped with display units

1) Remove the display unit as a set with the bezel from the instrument panel.

Caution

  • When removing the display unit, place a cloth to the instrument panel.
  • If a cloth is not used, the surface of the instrument panel may be damaged.

2) Disconnect the connector from the display unit.

2. Models equipped with 2DIN audio

1) Remove the 2DIN audio as a set with the bezel from the instrument panel.

Caution

  • When removing the 2DIN audio, place a cloth to the instrument panel.
  • If a cloth is not used, the surface of the instrument panel may be damaged.

2) Disconnect the connector from the 2DIN audio.

8. Instrument panel passenger-side upper cover removal

1) Remove the instrument panel passenger-side upper cover from the instrument panel.

High grade type (RHD)

9. Meter cluster removal

1) Remove the meter cluster from the instrument panel.

10. Control panel and control lever removal

1. Models with manual A/C

1) Remove the instrument panel (middle side) from the instrument panel (lower side).

2) Disconnect the control cable from the lock clamp section.

3) Disconnect the control cable from the intake lever.

4) Remove the control lever from the instrument panel.

5) Disconnect the connector from the control lever.
