1. 2WD

1) Inspect each knuckle for the following.

  • Cracking
  • Wear
  • Damage
  • Other malfunctions

2) Inspect the knuckle arm for the following.

  • Cracking
  • Wear
  • Damage
  • Other malfunctions

3) Inspect the knuckle spindle for the following.

  • Wear
  • Damage
  • Other malfunctions

4) Inspect the bushing for the following.

  • Wear
  • Damage
  • Other malfunctions

Note

  • If an abnormal condition is found as a result of inspection, replace the knuckle.

2. 4WD

1) Inspect each knuckle for the following.

  • Cracking
  • Wear
  • Damage
  • Other malfunctions

2) Inspect the knuckle arm for the following.

  • Cracking
  • Wear
  • Damage
  • Other malfunctions

3) Inspect the knuckle spindle for the following.

  • Wear
  • Damage
  • Other malfunctions

4) Inspect the oil seal contact surface of the spindle section for the following.

  • Scratching

Caution

  • If minor scratches are found on the oil seal contact section of the spindle section, repair using an oil stone, fine sandpaper, etc.

Note

  • Inspect the spindle section for cracking using the dye penetrant method or magnetic flaw detection method.

5) Inspect the bushing for the following.

  • Wear
  • Damage
  • Other malfunctions
