1. Power steering unit inspection

1. All models

1) Inspect the tie rod, tie rod end, lock nut, and boot for the following.

  • Wear
  • Damage
  • Corrosion
  • Other malfunctions

Note

  • Repair or replace if an abnormal condition is found as a result of inspection.

2) Inspect the tie rod for the following.

  • Sufficient resistance when the ball joint is moved
  • Any play when the ball joint is moved

Note

  • If an abnormal condition is found as a result of inspection, replace the tie rod.

Inspect the tie rod end for the following.

  • Looseness
  • Play

Note

  • If an abnormal condition is found as a result of inspection, replace the tie rod end.

2. 2WD (Except high ride suspension specifications)

1) Inspect the tie rod boot for the following.

  • Wear
  • Damage

Note

  • If an abnormal condition is found as a result of inspection, replace the boot.

3. 2WD (High ride suspension), 4WD

Caution

  • When removing the boot, replace it with a new one even if there is no damage.
