Catalytic converter removal (4JJ3 without DPD)

1. Preliminary and post procedures

1. Preliminary procedures

1) Open the engine hood.

2) Raise the vehicle.

2. Exhaust pipe removal

Refer to "1.Engine 1G.Exhaust(4JJ3 without DPD) exhaust pipe removal".

3. Catalytic converter removal

1) Remove the heat protector from the turbocharger.

Legend

  1. Heat protector

2) Disconnect the V-band from the catalytic converter.

3) Remove the catalytic converter bracket (front side) from the following parts.

  • Catalytic converter
  • Cylinder block
  • Turbocharger bracket

4) Remove the catalytic converter bracket (rear side) from the following parts.

  • Catalytic converter
  • Cylinder block

5) Remove the exhaust pipe bracket from the crankcase.

6) Remove the catalytic converter from the engine.

Caution

  • Do not reuse the gasket.
