Brake master cylinder inspection

1. Brake master cylinder inspection

1) Inspect each removed part for the following.

  • Wear
  • Damage
  • Other malfunctions

2) Inspect the brake fluid tank section for the following.

  • Damaged brake fluid tank
  • Damaged brake fluid switch
  • Other malfunctions

2. Brake master cylinder vehicle inspection

1. Brake fluid switch continuity inspection

1) Disconnect the harness connector from the brake fluid switch.

2) Inspect for continuity in the brake fluid switch using a DMM.

Brake fluid amount
 Between terminals
Between MAX and MIN
 No continuity
MIN or less
 Continuity

2. Brake system/parking brake warning light inspection

1) Disconnect the harness connector from the brake fluid switch.

2) Turn ON the ignition switch.

3) Connect a jumper wire between the disconnected harness connector terminals.

Note

  • Repair or replace as necessary if the brake system/parking brake warning light does not illuminate.
