2. Bumper rubber installation

1. 2WD (Except high ride suspension specifications)

1) Install the bumper rubber to the frame.

Note

  • Install so that the OUT mark faces the outside of the vehicle.

Tightening torque: 56 N・m { 5.7 kgf・m / 41 lb・ft }

3. Leaf spring installation

1. Temporary tightening (2WD (Except high ride suspension specifications))

1) Support the rear axle using a jack.

2) Support the leaf spring using a jack, and install the leaf spring to the vehicle.

3) Apply grease to the inside and outside of the rubber bushing.

4) Install the following parts to the frame and leaf spring.

  • Spring pin
  • Shackle plate
  • Shackle
  • Rubber bushing

Note

  • Insert the spring pin towards the inside of the vehicle.

Caution

  • Temporarily tighten each part, and make sure to final tighten after lowering the vehicle.

Grease application and shackle installation

5) Apply engine oil to the threaded portion of the U-bolts.

6) Install the U-bolt to the rear axle.

Note

  • Install the following parts.
  • Lower clamp
  • Seat
  • U-bolt nut

Note

  • Install the seat so that the installation angle is within the following standard range.

Tightening torque: 78 N・m { 8.0 kgf・m / 58 lb・ft }

Legend

Standard value

a: 88 to 92 ° Seat tolerance range

2. Temporary tightening (2WD (High ride suspension specification), 4WD)

1) Support the leaf spring using a jack, and install the leaf spring to the vehicle.

2) Apply grease to the inside and outside of the rubber bushing.

3) Install the following parts to the frame and leaf spring.

  • Spring pin
  • Shackle plate
  • Shackle
  • Rubber bushing

Note

  • Insert the spring pin towards the inside of the vehicle.

Caution

  • Temporarily tighten each part, and make sure to final tighten after lowering the vehicle.

Grease application and shackle installation

4) Support the rear axle using a jack.

5) Apply engine oil to the threaded portion of the U-bolts.

6) Install the U-bolt to the rear axle.

Note

  • Install the following parts.
  • Lower clamp
  • Bumper rubber
  • U-bolt nut

Tightening torque: 78 N・m { 8.0 kgf・m / 58 lb・ft }

3. Final tightening (2WD (Except high ride suspension specifications))

Caution

  • Final tighten each part after returning the vehicle to the ground.

1) Final tighten each part.

Tightening torque: 175 N・m { 17.8 kgf・m / 129 lb・ft } Spring pin nut

Tightening torque: 98 N・m { 10.0 kgf・m / 72 lb・ft } Shackle pin nut

4. Final tightening (2WD (High ride suspension specifications), 4WD)

Caution

  • Final tighten each part after returning the vehicle to the ground.

1) Final tighten each part.

Tightening torque: 175 N・m { 17.8 kgf・m / 129 lb・ft } Spring pin nut

Tightening torque: 98 N・m { 10.0 kgf・m / 72 lb・ft } Shackle pin nut

4. Shock absorber installation

1) Install the bushing to the shock absorber.

2) Install the washer and shock absorber to the frame and lower clamp.

3) Install the washer and nut to the frame and lower clamp, and temporarily tighten the nut.

4) Final tighten the frame side nut.

Tightening torque: 39 N・m { 4.0 kgf・m / 29 lb・ft }

5) Final tighten the lower clamp side nut.

Tightening torque: 39 N・m { 4.0 kgf・m / 29 lb・ft }

5. Parking brake cable connect

1) Install the parking brake cable to the leaf spring bracket.

Tightening torque: 8.10 to 12.2 N⋅m {0.830 to 1.24 kgf⋅m / 71.7 to 108.0 lb⋅in} 2WD (Except high ride suspension specifications)

Tightening torque: 19.7 to 29.6 N⋅m {2.01 to 3.02 kgf⋅m / 14.5 to 21.8 lb⋅ft} 2WD (High ride suspension specifications), 4WD

6. Disc wheel installation

1. Models with aluminum wheels

1) Temporarily tighten the disc wheel to the vehicle.

2) Lower vehicle.

3) Final tighten the wheel nut in the order shown in the diagram.

Tightening torque: 120 N⋅m {12 kgf⋅m / 87 lb⋅ft}

Caution

  • After completing installation, make sure to further tighten the wheel nuts to the specified torque after the vehicle has been driven a distance exceeding the standard value.

Standard: 50 to 100 km { 31 to 62 mile }

4) Install the wheel cap to the disc wheel.

Note

  • For models with 18-inch aluminum wheels, align the wheel cap groove with the air valve before installing.

5) Check that the surfaces of the wheel cap and wheel are flat.

Note

  • If the surfaces are not flat, the wheel cap may fall off.

2. Models with steel wheels

1) Temporarily tighten the disc wheel and wheel cap to the vehicle.

2) Lower vehicle.

3) Final tighten the wheel nut in the order shown in the diagram.

Tightening torque: 120 N⋅m {12 kgf⋅m / 87 lb⋅ft}

Caution

  • After completing installation, make sure to further tighten the wheel nuts to the specified torque after the vehicle has been driven a distance exceeding the standard value.
