Recommended fluids, lubricants and diesel fuels

1. Recommended fluids, lubricants and diesel fuels

1. For Australia

It is extremely important to select correct lubricants and diesel fuels so that your Isuzu vehicle demonstrates its full performance over the years. Use a lubricant that satisfies the grade specified in the table below and has a viscosity appropriate for the temperature at which your vehicle is operated. It is strongly advisable to use Isuzu genuine lubricants or the recommended lubricants in the table below. Top up the lubricants in accordance with the Maintenance Schedule specified for your vehicle. Also, do not use additives other than those specified.

Note

  • *: Isuzu genuine coolant

Engine coolant prevents engine damage due to freezing and protects the cooling system from corrosion. Use a mixture of coolant and distilled water or deionized water as the engine coolant. Use only an Isuzu recommended coolant. Mix a solution of 50% coolant and 50% distilled water.

* For other than Isuzu genuine coolant (Arteco/BASF, etc.), it is recommended to use directly "50/50 Prediluted" product which is already diluted to 50% concentration.

Do not use the coolant at any coolant concentration other than that specified. If the coolant concentration is 60% or higher, overheating is likely to occur, while if it is 30% or lower, anti-corrosion function is not provided sufficiently.

Note

  • If the engine or vehicle is used at -30°C (-22°F) or below, the coolant concentration of 55% is recommended.
  • Using coolant at any coolant concentration other than that specified may reduce anti-freezing performance, and engine coolant may freeze.

Caution

  • Do not drink long-life coolant as it is poisonous. If accidentally swallowed, immediately regurgitate it and seek medical attention.
  • If coolant has gotten in your eyes, immediately flush it out with large amounts of running water for 15 minutes or more. If there is any irritation, etc., seek medical attention.
  • If any coolant has gotten on your skin, wash it away with large amounts of water and soap. In addition, if there are any complications, get medical help.
  • When storing, seal the cap securely and keep out of reach of children.

Long-life coolant is flammable. Keep away from flames. In addition, if spilling it over high temperature parts such as the manifolds, it may catch fire. Take care not to spill it.

Based on EN590: 2009

Caution

  • For Euro 5 emission standard models, be sure to use extra-low-sulfur diesel fuel with sulfur content below 10 ppm.
  • If you refill your fuel tank with poor quality fuel, water-removal additive or other additive, gasoline, kerosene or alcohol-based fuel, it could damage the fuel filter, cause poor sliding of fuel-lubricated parts in the injectors and adversely affect engine components, resulting in failure.

Starting the engine with tank filled with inappropriate fuel may cause a fire and engine damage. If you accidentally fill the tank with inappropriate fuel, thoroughly drain it.

Note

  • Only use fuels listed above. Do not use other fuels as they may adversely affect the engine.

Refilling fuels containing biodiesel fuel
Standard type diesel fuels compatible with EN590 can be used. The standard type diesel fuel is the fuel contains biodiesel fuel that meets the requirements of EN14214.
Using fuels that is not compatible with EN590 or using fuels contain biodiesel fuel that is not compatible with EN14214 may cause a serious engine failure in the worst case.
Do not leave the diesel fuel that contains biodiesel fuel unused in the vehicle for a long period of time. The biodiesel fuel contents may close off the fuel system, causing a serious engine failure.
If the fuel compatible with EN590 is used, the vehicle is covered under the provided vehicle warranty. However, if the vehicle is left unused for a long period of time, the fuel properties may change, causing a vehicle problem. The vehicle warranty is not applicable in such cases.

Changing the fuel from a diesel fuel with 0% biodiesel content to a fuel containing biodiesel fuel and compatible with EN590 may negatively affect the starting and general driving performance.

2. Except for Australia

It is extremely important to select correct lubricants and diesel fuels so that your Isuzu vehicle demonstrates its full performance over the years. Top up the lubricants in accordance with the Maintenance Schedule specified for your vehicle. Use the Isuzu genuine lubricants or those recommended in the list below. Also, do not use additives other than those specified. The lubricant change intervals specified in the Maintenance Schedule and the terms and conditions of the new vehicle warranty assume the use of the Isuzu genuine or Isuzu recommended lubricants listed below.
Also, select the viscosity appropriate for the temperature at which your vehicle operates.
