Cylinder head cover removal (4JJ3 with DPD)

Cylinder head cover

Part name

Tightening torque

1-1: 5.0 N・m { 0.5 kgf・m / 44 lb・in }

1-2: 9.0 N・m { 0.9 kgf・m / 80 lb・in }

2. Preliminary and post procedures

1. Preliminary procedures

1) Open the engine hood.

2) Disconnect the battery cable from the battery negative terminal.

Caution

  • After turning OFF the ignition switch (power mode for models with passive entry and start system), do not disconnect the battery cable within 3 minutes.
  • If the battery cable is disconnected within 3 minutes, the vehicle electronic control system may malfunction.
  • If the battery cable is disconnected, perform the setting of the front door power window switch with AUTO UP/AUTO DOWN function after connecting the battery negative terminal.

3. Engine cover removal

1) Remove the engine cover from the engine.

4. Intake air duct removal

1) Disconnect the connector from charge air cooler temperature sensor 2.

2) Disconnect the air intake hose from the intercooler.

3) Remove the intake air duct from the intake throttle valve.

5. Exhaust differential pressure sensor removal

Refer to "1.Engine 1Z.Engine Electrical Control(4JJ3 with DPD) exhaust differential pressure sensor removal".

6. Differential pressure sensor bracket removal

1) Disconnect the following sensor harnesses from the harness bracket.

  • Exhaust gas temperature sensor 1 (Front of DPD filter)
  • Exhaust gas temperature sensor 2 (Front of oxidation catalyst)
  • Heated oxygen sensor

2) Remove the differential pressure sensor bracket from the cylinder head cover.

3) Remove the harness bracket from the cylinder head cover.

7. Air duct bracket removal

1) Remove the air duct bracket from the cylinder head cover.

8. Fuel leak-off hose removal

1) Disconnect the connector from the injector.

2) Remove the fuel leak-off hose from the leak-off pipe.

3) Remove the injector leak-off pipe from the injector.

Caution

  • Do not reuse the injector leak-off pipe or clip.

9. Cylinder head cover removal

1) Disconnect the PCV hose from the cylinder head cover.

2) Disconnect the harness clip from the cylinder head cover.

3) Remove the harness bracket from the cylinder head cover.

Note

  • For models with urethane covers, remove together with the urethane cover.
  • When removing the urethane cover, remove the oil filler cap before performing work.

Models with urethane covers

4) Remove the cylinder head cover from the cylinder head.

Caution

  • Do not reuse the gasket.

5) Remove the oil seal from the lower side of the cylinder head cover.
